The University of the Free State Library and Information Services, the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) (Free State) would like to invite you to a workshop intended to create awareness about Open Science amongst librarians, and to address library roles in terms of:

-        advocating for science and data to be open and transparent;

-        recommending data repositories for researchers to re-use existing datasets;

-        managerial and curation role in terms of managing institutional research data sets; and lastly,

-        integrating research data management training as part of information literacy skills training.


The programme will include an introduction to Open Science/Open Data, more about data informing the library profession, data in support of research, working with data (tools and applications), and information on working towards a data strategy for your library and institution.
