The Finite Geometry and Coding Theory CIMPA\n School took place from November 20 to December 1, 2023, at the Indian\n Institute of Technology Hyderabad in Sangaredddy, India. The organizers of\n this school were <\/b><\/span>Mrinmoy\n Datta<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> from the Indian Institute of\n Technology Hyderabad, India, and <\/b><\/span>Trygve\n Johnsen<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> from The Arctic University of Norway,\n Norway.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>

The primary aim was to offer participants\n from India and neighboring nations an extensive understanding of finite\n geometry (or Galois geometry) and coding theory, delving into both\n foundational concepts and cutting-edge developments. The CIMPA school on\n"Blockchain in Theory and Real Applications" occurred from November 20\nto December 1, 2023, hosted at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in\nMuizenberg, South Africa. The organizers of this school were <\/b><\/span>Ulrich\nPaquet<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> (AIMS, South Africa)\nand <\/b><\/span>Jorge\nUrroz<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> (Universidad\nPolit\u00e9cnica de Catalu\u00f1a and Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid, Spain).\n<\/b><\/span>Vlady\nRavelomanana<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> (University of\nParis, France) was the scientific officer of the school.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>Participants from\nvarious African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of\nCongo, Senegal, Nigeria, Madagascar, South Africa, and even from India, attended\nthe workshop. The sessions covered diverse topics like cryptography,\nzero-knowledge proofs, and decentralized finance (DeFi), introducing\ncutting-edge concepts in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. This event\nfostered an enriching environment for learning and practical application in the\nrealm of blockchain technology.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>

The CIMPA school "Non-Associative Algebras\nand Related Topics" was held at the Federal University of Esp\u00edrito Santo\nfrom December 4 to 15, 2023. The coordinators were Renato Fehlberg J\u00fanior\n(Universidade Federal do Esp\u00edrito Santo, Brazil) and <\/b><\/span>Friedrich\nWagemann<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> (Universit\u00e9 de Nantes, France).\nSupervision was provided by <\/b><\/span>Rosane\nUshirobira<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> (Inria, France).<\/b><\/span><\/h3>The school aimed to educate graduate students and\nyoung researchers on non-associative algebras such as Lie, Leibniz, incidence,\nand genetic algebras, investigating their applications and deformations.\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>

Participants were provided with foundational\nknowledge prior to exploring advanced topics. The courses encompassed\napplications in geometry, physics, biology, and other fields. In addition to\nlectures, problem-solving sessions and discussions on open problems were\nconducted.<\/b><\/span><\/p>

From December 8 to\n23, Professor <\/b><\/span>Alain\nTogbe<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/a> from Purdue\nUniversity Northwest (USA) conducted a CIMPA course at the Institute of\nMathematics and Physical Sciences in Benin. Since 2013, Professor Togbe has been\nteaching regularly at IMSP and mentoring numerous IMSP students. During his\nstay, he taught a course on algebraic number theory to first-year Master's\nstudents. The course covered concepts of algebraic number fields, algebraic\nunits, and class groups. The secondary objective of the visit was to mentor his\ncurrent Master's and Ph.D. students.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>_________________<\/span><\/h3>Du 8 au 23 d\u00e9cembre, le professeur <\/span>Alain\nTogbe<\/u><\/span><\/a> de Purdue University Northwest (USA) a anim\u00e9 un\ncours CIMPA \u00e0 l'Institut de Math\u00e9matiques et Sciences Physiques au B\u00e9nin.\nDepuis 2013, il enseigne r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement \u00e0 l'IMSP et encadre de nombreux\n\u00e9tudiantes et \u00e9tudiants. ________________<\/b><\/span><\/p>La Chaire "Pays du Sud" au Centre\nInternational de Rencontres Math\u00e9matiques (CIRM) \u00e0 Marseille, France, repr\u00e9sente\nune opportunit\u00e9 exceptionnelle de collaboration entre un chercheur ou une\nchercheuse affili\u00e9.e \u00e0 une universit\u00e9 ou \u00e0 un institut de recherche en Afrique\net un chercheur ou une chercheuse d\u2019un \u00e9tablissement fran\u00e7ais\n(Universit\u00e9\/CNRS).<\/span><\/p>

Cette chaire vise \u00e0 encourager et \u00e0 soutenir une\ncollaboration fructueuse entre ces deux chercheurs pendant une p\u00e9riode de un \u00e0\ndeux mois au CIRM, o\u00f9 ils auront l'opportunit\u00e9 de travailler ensemble sur un\nprojet de recherche novateur dans leur domaine respectif.
