MEETING OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL

RÉUNION DU CONSEIL SCIENTIFIQUE

The CIMPA Scientific Council met on November 16 and 17, 2023 at the Institut Henri Poincaré to examine the project proposals for the 2025 CIMPA Schools. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with 5 members participating online.

CIMPA would like to express its gratitude to all the members for their investment of time and energy.

The selection of schools will be finalized at the next CIMPA Steering Committee meeting in Nice (France) on February 8 and 9, 2024.

Le Conseil scientifique du CIMPA s'est réuni les 16 et 17 novembre 2023 à l'Institut Henri Poincaré pour examiner les propositions de projets pour les Écoles CIMPA 2025. La réunion s'est tenue en hybride, avec 5 membres participant en ligne.

Le CIMPA souhaite exprimer sa gratitude à tous les membres pour leur investissement en temps et en énergie.

La sélection des écoles sera finalisée lors de la prochaine réunion du Comité de pilotage du CIMPA à Nice (France) les 8 et 9 février 2024.

SANTO DOMINGO (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

The CIMPA School on 'Differential Galois Theory and Applications to Mechanics' was held at Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo from October 20 to November 3. The coordinators were Primitivo Belen Acosta-Humanez (Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Guy Casale (University of Rennes 1, France). Supervision was provided by Joachim Yameogo (Université Côte d'Azur, France).

L'école CIMPA intitulée "Differential Galois Theory and Applications to Mechanics" a eu lieu à l'Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo du 20 octobre au 3 novembre. Les coordinateurs étaient Primitivo Belen Acosta-Humanez (Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, République dominicaine) et Guy Casale (Université de Rennes 1, France). La supervision a été assurée par Joachim Yameogo (Université Côte d'Azur, France).

The CIMPA School " Aspects mathématiques de la cryptographie post-quantique " was held at the Université Mohammed V de Rabat (Morocco) from October 23 to November – 4.

SAIDA (ALGERIA)

From October 26 to November 5, 2023, Professor Omar Kebiri from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in Germany conducted a CIMPA course at the University of Saida Dr. Moulay Tahar in Algeria. His course focused on 'Deep Learning Methods for Stochastic Dynamics'.

The participation in this course was incredibly enriching for both students and postdocs. Not only did they acquire new digital skills, but they also applied them on their computers. It was a unique opportunity to initiate new and exciting research collaborations with certain members of the laboratory.

Du 26 octobre au 5 novembre 2023, le professeur Omar Kebiri de BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg en Allemagne a donné un cours CIMPA à l'Université de Saida Dr. Moulay Tahar en Algérie. Son cours portait sur les "méthodes d'apprentissage profond pour la dynamique stochastique".

La participation à ce cours a été incroyablement enrichissante pour les étudiantes, les étudiants et les postdocs. Non seulement ils ont acquis de nouvelles compétences numériques, mais ils les ont également appliquées sur leurs ordinateurs. Ce fut une occasion unique d'initier de nouvelles et passionnantes collaborations de recherche avec certains membres du laboratoire.

AFRICAN MATHEMATICAL SCHOOL – SENEGAL

The Geometry, Analysis and Applications (G2A) EMA School was held at the Alioune Diop University in Bambey (Senegal) from October 23 to November 3, under the coordination of Professors Abdoul Salam Diallo and Mouhamadou Ngom.

This first edition of the EMA school was a success both scientifically and socially. It fully achieved its objective of promoting the development of geometry and analysis in Senegal and French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa. There was a wide range of participants, mainly young lecturers and doctoral students from various target countries.

The event fostered fruitful exchanges and in-depth discussions on subjects ranging from pure mathematics to applied fields.

ÉCOLE MATHÉMATIQUE AFRICAINE – SÉNÉGAL

L'école EMA "Geometry, Analysis and Applications (G2A)" s'est déroulée à l'université Alioune Diop de Bambey (Sénégal) du 23 octobre au 3 novembre, sous la coordination des professeurs Abdoul Salam Diallo et Mouhamadou Ngom.

Cette première édition de l'école EMA a été un succès tant sur le plan scientifique que social. Elle a parfaitement atteint son objectif de promouvoir le développement de la géométrie et de l'analyse au Sénégal et en Afrique sub-saharienne francophone. La participation était diversifiée, regroupant principalement de jeunes enseignantes et enseignants-chercheurs et des doctorantes et doctorants venant de différents pays ciblés.

L'événement a favorisé des échanges fructueux et des discussions approfondies sur des sujets allant des mathématiques pures aux domaines appliqués.

SEAMS SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS – PHILIPPINES

A SEAMS school on "Scientific Computing for Differential Equations and Applications" was held at the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics from November 22 to December 1.

Renier Mendoza from the University of the Philippines Diliman was the main coordinator of this event.

This SEAMS school brought together experts in numerical analysis and scientific computing to give introductory lectures on recent numerical techniques in solving ordinary and partial differential equations, and their applications. These lectures were aimed for graduate students and early-career mathematicians from the Philippines and neighboring countries. The event consisted of a series of lectures followed by practical computational exercises.

Une école SEAMS intitulée "Scientific Computing for Differential Equations and Applications" s'est tenu à l'Institut de Mathématiques de l'UP Diliman aux Philippines, du 22 novembre au 1er décembre.

Renier Mendoza de l'université des Philippines Diliman était le coordinateur principal de cet événement."

Cette école SEAMS a réunit des experts en analyse numérique et en informatique scientifique pour donner des conférences d'introduction aux techniques numériques récentes de résolution des équations différentielles ordinaires et partielles, ainsi qu'à leurs applications. Ces conférences étaient destinées aux étudiantes et étudiants de troisième cycle et aux mathématiciennes et mathématiciens en début de carrière des Philippines et des pays voisins. L'événement comprenait une série de conférences suivies d'exercices pratiques de calcul.
