The 9th European Congress of Mathematics (ECM) was held in Sevilla, Spain, from July 15 to 19 2024. Organised by the European Mathematical Society (EMS), the event was a great success, attracting 1,400 participants from 70 countries. The congress showcased European mathematics from various perspectives, including research, applications, education, and history.
During this event, CIMPA played an active role in the ECM scholarship selection committee for the Global South, alongside María de los Ángeles García Ferrero, Mirta Maria Castro Smirnova (chair), Martina Magliocca, and Lidia Fernández. Thanks to this support, mathematicians from the Global South were able to present their research and fully engage in the congress. CIMPA, in collaboration with CIRM, EMS-CDC, ICTP, ISP, and LMS, also organised a mini-symposium titled "Shared Horizons: collaborations between Europe and the Global South." This event provided a platform for the laureates to discuss the state of mathematics in their countries, to strengthen collaboration between Europe and the Global South, and to give a scientific presentation.

Le 9e Congrès européen de mathématiques (ECM) s'est tenu à Séville, en Espagne, du 15 au 19 juillet 2024. Organisé par la Société mathématique européenne (EMS), l'événement a connu un grand succès, attirant 1 400 personnes de 70 pays. Le congrès a présenté les mathématiques européennes sous différents angles, notamment la recherche, les applications, l'éducation et l'histoire.
Lors de cet évènement, le CIMPA a participé activement au comité de sélection des bourses ECM pour le Sud Global, aux côtés de María de los Ángeles García Ferrero, Mirta Maria Castro Smirnova (présidente), Martina Magliocca, et Lidia Fernández. Grâce à ce soutien, des mathématiciennes et mathématiciens du Sud Global ont pu présenter leurs recherches et s'engager pleinement dans le congrès. Le CIMPA, en collaboration avec le CIRM, l'EMS-CDC, l'ICTP, l'ISP et le LMS, a également organisé un mini-symposium intitulé « Shared Horizons : collaborations between Europe and the Global South ». Cet événement a offert aux lauréates et lauréats une plateforme pour discuter de la situation des mathématiques dans leurs pays, de renforcer la collaboration entre l'Europe et le Sud Global, et de faire une présentation scientifique.

CIMPA COURSES –COURS CIMPA
The ICMU (International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine) Summer School on “Probability, Geometry, and Machine Learning” took place in Lviv, Ukraine, from July 14 to August 7. This summer school introduced participants to the challenges and techniques found at the rich intersection of high-dimensional probability, convex geometry, machine learning, and optimal transport. The summer university welcomed four eminent researchers, each of whom presented a mini-course comprising four lectures, three of which were funded by CIMPA.
Mark Rudelson (University of Michigan, USA) presented a series of lectures on "Limit Distribution of the Eigenvalues of a Symmetric Random Matrix". Wilhelm Klingenberg (Durham University, UK) covered "An Introduction to Optimal Transport", while Samuël Borza (International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), Italy) discussed "Sub-Riemannian Geometry".

L'école d'été de l'ICMU (International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine) sur le thème "Probability, Geometry, and Machine Learning" s'est tenue à Lviv, en Ukraine, du 14 juillet au 7 août. Cet événement a permis aux participantes et participants de se familiariser avec les défis et les méthodes situés au carrefour de la probabilité en grande dimension, de la géométrie convexe, de l'apprentissage automatique et du transport optimal. L'école d'été a accueilli quatre chercheurs de renom, chacun ayant animé un mini-cours composé de quatre conférences, dont trois financées par le CIMPA.

INTRODUCTION TO SINGULAR PERTURBATIONS AND BOUNDARY LAYERS
This course was presented by Bouchra Bensiali, an assistant professor at École Centrale Casablanca, Morocco. It covers the fundamental concepts of singular perturbations and boundary layers, which are essential notions in mathematical analysis and applied physics.

RESIDUATED LATTICES AND RESIDUATED MULTILATTICES WITH APPLICATIONS
The second course was delivered by Célestin Lélé, a professor at the University of Dschang, Cameroon. This course explores residuated lattices and residuated multilattices, as well as their applications in various mathematical domains.
